Winter is coming John Snow

Winter is coming John Snow

Look, look, we have a Tiny House (just don’t look to closely).

It is an amazing feeling when you achieve something like this. At this point. The exterior is basically finished. all 4 walls have exterior cladding. There is roof capping, the windows and doors all have dressings and surrounds. The Tiny House is starting to look fantastic.

The guttering has been installed. We have size limits to keep it road legal on the trailer. So standard guttering couldn’t be used. We got creative and used the table saw to cut 90mm (3.5inch) down-piping to slot over the roofing metal as a gutter. It actually worked out perfectly.

What’s left to complete on the exterior:

2 x exterior vents for extractor fans (bathroom and bedroom).
8 x solar panels and wiring to install.
A whole lot of black silicone.
Repaint all the black frames and decoration wood.

The inside is coming along great too. Apart from some bulky computer power wires, all of the 12v and 240v wiring are completed. The satellite dish has been installed and wired as well as all the ethernet ports for the computers and TV. The electric door buttons and locks are in and working (its cool having a remote control to unlock the door) as well as all the lighting (interior and exterior).

The bathroom has been measured and the toilet access door has been installed. This is because we are having a motorhome style shower unit and toilet. So the toilet has a canister that requires emptying. Even the water piping is mostly installed (just waiting on a few more parts). We have even started insulating. For insulation we are using Pink Batts. We managed to purchase about 30 bags full of offcuts for about $100. Which is enough to insulate the entire Tiny House.

You can see from the photos, that by the end of the workday the sun is now disappearing. The days are getting shorter and certainly colder. There are ominous rain clouds looming nearly every day. I think we need to hurry up and finish this Tiny House, because winter is coming John Snow.
