It’s just a small fire
Well then. What have we learned today? Chinese products are still Chinese quality.
The past week has been plaster boarding like crazy and last night was painting, painting and ow, painting. We are moving in. We have to. We have no choice. The place will be unfinished and nothing more than a glorified and insulated garden shed at this point. Nonetheless, a deadline is a deadline.
To make matters slightly worse, my LED light controllers are catching fire. They have a cheap converter to change from 12vDC to 18vDC to run such a large LED panel I was already annoyed at this when they arrived, as I had thought they were simply 12v panels. I have now had 3 of these light controllers start smouldering. Originally we considered it was overheating due to the insulation. So I moved the insulation out of the way to allow them to breathe. Then the third light went after a single minute of operation despite running for 12 hours the previous day. That’s when I knew they were just crap quality.
I have ordered new and better quality voltage converters . But that doesn’t fix the fact that for the next few days, we have no lounge room, kitchen or bathroom lights.
As for painting, we chose a beautiful colour. I was originally going to paint everything white to make the room larger and brighter. However Gordon wanted a dark colour. So we settled on a green/blue colour. It is however…. Dark. Even during the day it feels like an absence of light. Which is the opposite feel of when the undercoat which is a white colour was painted. We may have to go back at some stage and at least paint the ceilings who the again to give it some light back.
Well, tomorrow is move in day. We’ll see how that goes.
