RV there yet?

RV there yet?

Building again has been great! (Well, at least I’ve been enthusiastic about it)

Now, I have to admit, there are 1,000s of things I could be doing around the house to make the Tiny House and land better. The list of ideas and projects, alterations and small repairs is daunting to look at. Which Is why I decided to not do any of it; and instead pivot to my second project.

As I mentioned in my last post. New Zealand is really the perfect country to tour in a Motorhome (or RV if you are North American). Now we don’t have the huge American bus sized RV’s here. We have more compact van sized motorhomes. But that doesn’t mean that it wont have all the same comforts.

The plan is:
– Heating
– Hot water
– Gas
– Water (fresh and grey onboard tanks)
– Toilet
– Shower
– Kitchen benches
– Cooking
– Fridge
– Bed / Sofa
– TV
– Phone Charging
– 240v Power

It needs to be comfortable and featured enough for us to actually want to live in it whilst traveling for a month or two at a time. Now building this is a lot simpler for me than a Tiny House. I have already spent 2 weeks gathering supplies such as required wood, wall coverings, sourcing caravan windows, bathroom/kitchen items and flooring. So the building processes should really only take me a few weeks (or so I thought).

The van needed insulation behind the wall coverings. Framing, Bathroom shell built. Then the kitchen. before anything else. Water tanks, hot water, cylinder, gas installed.

I sourced most of my products from China, and anything large I managed to find second hand such as the windows, fridge, toilet, shower and sink. I built all of the cabinetry,

I actually planned the bed system to be two rounded rear box seats with a roll out frame between. Once I built it all, I realized I hated it. I ended up pulling those box seats out, burning them in a ritual bomb fire then rebuilding them as a slide out unit which ended up fantastic!

I’m not really going to post a step by step building process. Instead, pictures are worth a thousand words. So here is a chronological order of building in pictures, It is nearly finished:

The next post will be the finished van!

This build is almost over, which is a massive load off my chassis.
